Hayes Lane hosts another Kent derby on Wednesday night when Cray Wanderers entertain VCD Athletic in the Bostik League Division One South.
Just to give the game extra interest The Wands managed by Tony Russell who was formerly in charge at the visitors and had a very successful spell with the Crayford based club.
VCD make the short trip over to Bromley sitting in nineteenth with 29 points from 27 games, on Saturday they lost 3-2 at Horsham with all the goals coming in the first half.
Athletic are without a win in eight games since a 1-0 win over Shoreham in November and will be keen to turn this round again local rivals.
The Wands who are unbeaten in eighteen league fixtures drew 2-2 with Walton Casuals on Sunday, letting in a last minute equaliser having led twice in the game.
Although the point moved them back into second, they are now four points behind leaders Lewes, with 56 points from 27 matches, drawing eleven.
Cray were without the injured pair of Michael Freiter and Aaron Rhule against Walton Casuals after both limped out of the New Year’s Day drawn match at Greenwich Borough and they named coach Joe Vines among the subs at the weekend.
The two clubs were regular opponents in their Kent League days and both went on to taste football at Isthmian League Premier Division level before being relegated to their current division initially in the North section.
This will be a keenly contested derby between familiar foes and well worth braving the cold for football fans.
