Cray Wanderers are back in Ryman League Division One South action at Hayes Lane on Wednesday night when they entertain league leaders Tooting & Mitcham United.
The Terrors arrive sitting on top of the division three points clear of Dorking Wanderers with 77points from 34 games having beaten Lewes 5-1 away on Saturday extending their winning run to eight games.
The Wands have hit a sticky patch of late having lost their last two games, leaving them seven points off the play off spots in ninth with a game in hand on 56points from 33 games. They lost 2-1 at Carshalton on Saturday having had Lee Prescott sent off after only 22minutes, although Cray fans will have been pleased to see top scorer Danny Haynes return from injury.
When the two sides met at Imperial Fields in November Tooting ran out 4-0 winners on an afternoon to forget for The Wands and manager Tony Russell will be looking for his squad to avenge this and get back in the hunt for the top five before the gap becomes any wider.
The last game at Hayes Lane between The Wands and The Terrors came in September 2014 when the visitors won a FA Cup tie 2-1 with a last minute winner.
Matches between these two sides are always keenly contested and the outcome could well shape the way the season goes for both sides in their play off bids.
