Cray Wanderers play their only home friendly of their pre-season campaign on Saturday when they take on National League South new comers Tonbridge Angels at Hayes Lane.
The Angels won promotion via the Divisional Play Off and ‘Super Play Off’ last season, defeating Haringey Borough, Merstham & Met Police on the way to regaining their NL South status.
The Wands were Isthmian League Division One South East champions ending a superb campaign on 82 pts from their 36 league games, losing just four matches.
Cray Wands manager Tony Russell has retained the services of a number of last season’s squad, including the impressive centre back pairing of Jay Leader & Mitchell Nelson, midfielders Karl Dent & Jerome Frederico and striker Joe Taylor, but he has also made some changes with a few new faces expected to feature in the match as they prepare for life back in the Isthmian Premier Division.
On Tuesday night Cray travelled to Sheppey United for their first friendly winning 1-0 with a first half goal from a trialist.
The Angels started their preparations early with one friendly game in June, so far they have beaten Sutton Common Rovers, Sittingbourne and East Grinstead Town on the road as manager Steve McKimm prepares his squad for football back in the sixth tier of English football.
The Wands will be hoping to attract a good crowd for this Kent Derby, kick off at Hayes Lane is 1.00pm and entrance is only £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
