Cray Wanderers look to bounce back from last Saturday’s defeat at Worthing when they host Horsham at Hayes Lane in the Isthmian League Premier Division on Wednesday night.
The Wands went down 2-0 away to league leaders at the weekend, a loss that saw them slip to twenty first in the table with 12 points from 16 league games played and ended their mini revival.
Horsham make the trip up from Sussex sitting in thirteenth with 24 points from 17 matches. Last Saturday The Hornets won 3-1 away at Merstham with goals from Jack Brivio, Lee Harding and Eddie D’Sane. Horsham are on a run of seven straight wins under manager Dominic di Paola and have only conceded three goals in that time.
Prior to the loss at Worthing Danny Kedwell’s side had been unbeaten in three matches, picking up two draws in the league and progressing in the FA Trophy by beating Ebbsfleet Utd on penalties. With the squad looking more settled now The Wands will be hoping to pick up some points from their two games in hand and move out of the danger zone ahead of the busy festive period. Although their bad luck with injuries continued at Woodside Road with Fjord Rogers having to go off injured early on.
Anthony Cook is Cray’s top scorer so far this season on nine, while Horsham’s is Shamir Fenelon who has ten.
This is the first meeting between the sides this season, but previous encounters over the years have always been entertaining and this one looks set to be the same as Cray look to get their league campaign going and Horsham look to continue their impressive run of form.
Entrance for the game is £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, with a superb printed programme for £2.
