Cray Wanderers v Horsham preview

It’s a match up between first and second in the Bostik League Division One South East at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon when Cray Wanderers entertain Horsham.

The Wands currently lead the division by thirteen points, having lost only once this season in the league, but that defeat came away to Horsham in December and The Hornets have been on an excellent run since their 4-2 win over The Wands that has seen them rise to second place.

Horsham have only lost once in 2019 and are on a seven game unbeaten run, having defeated Hythe Town 2-1 last weekend. Cray won 1-0 away at Phoenix Sports, thanks to a first half goal from Karl Dent, which surprisingly was his first goal of the season for The Black and Ambers.

Tony Russell’s side have picked up an impressive 68 points from 27 games played, while Horsham have amassed 55 points from 28 league matches under the management of Dominic di Paola. The Hornets’ Rob O’Toole scored a hatrick in the first meeting at Culver Road with Charlie Harris notching the other, while Ben Mundele & Archie Johnson were on target for Cray.

When the teams met at Hayes Lane last season Cray came out 4-3 winners in an enthralling match.

Both clubs currently play away from their home towns with Horsham currently based at Lancing FC while their new ground is built and The Wands are in their twenty first year at Bromley FC, although they do finally have confirmed plans for a home of their own at Flamingo Park.

Season ticket holders for Premier League, Football League and National League sides can watch the game for just £5 on presentation of their ticket, with the usual price being £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.

This promises to be a fantastic game between the division’s best two sides with Horsham looking to record a notable double and Cray Wands hoping to put extra daylight between themselves and the chasing pack.
