After their Kent Senior Cup success over Dartford on Wednesday night, Cray Wanderers are back in Bostik League action on Saturday afternoon when they entertain an in form Herne Bay in another Kent derby at Hayes Lane.
The Wands won through 4-2 in a very entertaining game against The Darts, with young striker Relique Lawrence scoring a hattrick.
Manager Tony Russell rested a few first teamers and his faith in their younger understudies was rewarded with a fine performance which took The Wands through to the last eight of the competition.
The youngster may now have more places to contend for after highly rated forward Brandon Scott joined National League South side Whitehawk this week.
The Black and Ambers currently sit twelfth in the table with ten points from seven games, having lost their last league game 2-1 at Lewes on Saturday, not helped by having to play with nine men for a long period in the second half after Bradley Stevenson & then Mitchell Nelson were sent off.
Herne Bay travel up from the coast in eighth with twelve points from eight games having recorded an impressive 4-2 win at Hastings Utd last weekend. Bay have only lost two of their last nine games in all competitions, winning seven of them.
Last season Cray completed the double over Bay, 1-0 at Winches Field and 2-1 at home.
With both sides in confident mood this should be an entertaining close fought match between two sides who will hope to be up near the play offs come the end of the season.
