Cray Wanderers are back in Isthmian League Premier Division action on Saturday afternoon when they entertain Haringey Borough at Hayes Lane.
The Wands go into the game having lost 1-0 away to Folkestone Invicta on Tuesday night, a result that left Grant Basey’s side sitting in nineteenth with 27 points from 31 league matches played, keeping out of the bottom three on goal difference.
The defeat at Cheriton Road ended a three game unbeaten run in the league, which had seen them claw their way out of the bottom three.
Nick Blue returned on loan to play in goal on Tuesday after first team keeper Bailey Vose had been injured in the previous match at Wingate & Finchley, with Anthony Cook playing for 70 minutes between the sticks in the 2-2 draw.
Millwall U23 keeper Joe Wright has signed for a month to cover Vose’s absence.
Haringey make the journey across London having lost 6-0 at home to Bishop Stortford in midweek, a result that leaves Borough in fifteenth with 32 points from 30 league games.
When the teams met at Coles Park in October the game ended 1-1 with Jamie Yila equalising for Cray in the second half after Scott Mitchell had put the home side in front early on. Tom Loizou’s Borough have won two of their last five games in all competitions and will be looking to bounce back from Tuesday night’s heavy loss to avoid being pulled into the battle at the bottom of the table.
Cray will be looking for a much needed three points to pull away from the bottom three, with two teams going down and one being involved in an end of season relegation play off match, which sets things up for this to be a close match with lots to play for.
Entrance for the game is £10 for adults and £5 for concessions with a superb printed programme at £2.
