Fourth meets third on Easter Monday afternoon as Cray Wanderers entertain Greenwich Borough at Hayes Lane in a local derby that could go a long way to decide the finishing places in the Bostik League Division One South play of spots.
Both sides go into the game in good form, The Wands having won their last four games and Borough having been victorious in their last six matches. Cray secured three points at Chipstead on Saturday thanks to a last minute goal from Aaron Rhule, while Greenwich won 4-1 at home to East Grinstead Town.
When the two sides met at The Badgers Sports Ground on New Year’s Day they cancelled each other out on a 0-0 draw, but since then Borough have seen a change management and their former striker Charlie MacDonald has joined The Wands.
Greenwich go into the game with 82 points from 40 games, while Cray have amassed 81 points from 41 matches. It was only a dip in form over February that saw Tony Russell’s side lose touch with leaders Lewes, but there is still an outside chance of second place for both sides to aim for and also to finish in a position that guarantees home advantage in the play offs.
This should be a hard fought contest between two good sides who are long established rivals from their Kent League days and are both looking to take their promotion challenge to the wire.
