Cray Wanderers v Enfield Town preview

It’s a match up between fourth and third at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon when Cray Wanderers entertain Enfield Town in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

Following on from Wednesday night’s 4-0 win over Brightlingsea Regent, The Wands  moved up to fourth in the table with nineteen points from twelve league matches, the same points and games tally as Enfield one place above them.

Both teams having won five, drawn four and lost three games in the league so far. Bromley Under 23 loanee Ben Krauhaus scored a hattrick for Cray in midweek, with Tom Derry notching the other goal.

Manager Neil Smith gave Leyton Orient loanee Harrison Sodje his debut at left back, the third member of the extended Sodje family to have represented The Wands.

Right back Kellen Fisher also on loan from Bromley U23s played at right back and both youngsters did very well in a youthful back four.

Enfield Town make the journey down from North London on the back of a 4-2 home defeat to Lewes last Saturday, Jake Cass and James Richmond with the goals for The Es. Cass has netted five goals so far this campaign, with former Cray player Andre Coker also on the same tally for Andy Leese’s side.

If last season’s matches are anything to go by this will be a high scoring and very entertaining game, The Wands and The Towners drawing 4-4 at Hayes Lane in January and 3-3 at The Queen Elizabeth Stadium on Good Friday, a result that went a long way to securing Cray’s Premier Division status for this campaign, with a superb display from teenage goalkeeper Nathan Boamah in The Wands goal.

Cass scored all three of The Es goals, while Sam Wood, Anthony Cook and Richie Danquah scored for Cray. From the sixteen man squad that played in April for The Wands, only Wood, Cook and Boamah remain at the club.

Entrance for the match is £12 for adults, £6 for concessions and there is an excellent printed programme for £2. Bromley FC adult season ticket holders can attend for just £6.

Kick off 3pm.
