Cray Wanderers v East Grinstead Town preview

After nearly two weeks off Cray Wanderers are back in Ryman League Division One South action on Saturday afternoon when they host East Grinstead Town at Hayes Lane keen to maintain their challenge for the play off spots.

The Wands haven’t completed a game since 4thDecember when they ran out 5-1 winners over Godalming Town, only playing 13 minutes at Herne Bay the following Tuesday due to fog and losing last weekend’s fixture due to South Park’s cup commitments.

East Grinstead travel up from Sussex sitting in nineteenth with 23 points from their 23 games played and will be looking to move further away from the relegation zone having won only two league games since October. The Wasps lost 3-1 at home to Lewes last Saturday, having beaten Faversham Town 2-1 in the previous midweek fixtures.

Cray slipped to eighth during their spell of inactivity, but they still have games in hand to make a push for the top five.

The Wands striker Danny Haynes scored a hat-trick against Godalming and has broken the clubs long standing record for scoring in consecutive games, thriving on the service from the hard working midfield.

With both sides needing points this should be a keenly contested fixture ahead of the very busy festive period in the Ryman League.
