Cray Wanderers v Carshalton Athletic preview

Cray Wanderers play their last of four consecutive home games on Saturday afternoon when they entertain Carshalton Athletic in the Isthmian League Premier Division at Hayes Lane.

The Wands have picked up just one point from their previous three home games and will be looking to turn chances into goals after drawing 0-0 with Leatherhead on Wednesday night.

Midfielder Jacob Munting made his Cray debut from the bench in midweek as Interim Manager Grant Basey looks to add to & strengthen his squad.

The point left The Wands in twentieth place with 20 points from 24 league matches, two points behind Bowers & Pitsea who are just above the relegation zone.

Peter Adeniyi’s Carshalton travel over from Surrey sitting in eighth with 39 points from 23 games, five points off the play offs.

The Robins have won their last three games by single goal margins, on Saturday they won 1-0 away at Bowers & Pitsea thanks to a second half goal from Tommy Bradford.

When the sides met at Colston Avenue in October, Cray won 3-1 with goals from Marvin McKoy, Dean Beckwith and Andy Drury, the latter two having left the club when former manager Danny Kedwell departed just after Christmas, Athletic’s goal coming from Daniel Bennett.

With Cray looking to keep in touch with the teams above the bottom three and Carshalton eyeing the play off spots, both teams need three points from this one and it looks set to be a close fought entertaining encounter as the season just turns the half way mark.

Entrance for the game is £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, with an excellent printed programme at £2.
