After Saturday’s hard fought draw, Cray Wanderers are back in Isthmian League Premier Division action on Wednesday night when they entertain Bowers & Pitsea at Hayes Lane.
The Wands drew 1-1 at home to East Thurrock Utd at the weekend with Tom Murphy equalising with fifteen minutes left, despite Tony Russell’s side losing two key players to injury early in the second half in Mitchell Nelson and Andre Coker.
Cray could have won the game, but for the inspired form for The Rocks goalkeeper Jack Giddens who made a number of good saves.
The Black & Ambers have had no luck with injuries so far this season with Jay Leader and Tom Phipp already side lined and Coker had just come back from a lay off.
Bowers & Pitsea lost 1-0 at Leatherhead on Saturday, a result that left them fourteenth with eight points from seven games. The defeat ended an unbeaten run of three matches for the Essex side who were promoted from Division One North as champions at the end of last season.
Cray Wands are currently ninth in the league with eleven points from eight played and have lost only once so far this season, 3-2 at home to Folkestone Invicta. Making a strong start to their first campaign back at this level for five years.
The Football for a Fiver scheme in in place for all Cray Wanderers home league games this season, with season ticket holders for Premier, Football and National League clubs able to see the match for £5 when showing their ticket at the turnstile.
Usual prices are £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, which is still excellent value for what promises to be another cracking encounter between two promoted teams looking to establish themselves in the Premier Division.
