Cray Wanderers return to Isthmian League Premier Division action when they host Bishop’s Stortford at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon.
The Wands go into the game on the back of a much needed league win over Horsham 3-1 on Wednesday night, thanks to goals from debutant Kyel Reid, plus Chris Dickson & Jamie Yila.
The victory moved The Wands up to nineteenth in the table with 15 points from 17 games and out of the bottom three.
Manager Danny Kedwell gave three players their debuts on Wednesday with Reid being joined by defender Ethan Kaiser in the starting line up and striker Erald Desa coming off the bench and Kedwell was delighted with his team’s performance. Cray have now won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five matches.
Bishop’s Stortford make the journey down from Hertfordshire sitting in fifth place with 32 points from 19 league matches.
On Tuesday night they drew 0-0 away to Folkestone Invicta, continuing an unbeaten run of fourteen games which dates back to mid-October under manager Kevin Watson. Jake Cass is Stortford’s top scorer with 15 goals, while The Wands top marksman is Anthony Cook on 9.
When the sides met last season at Hayes Lane in October 2020, The Blues came out on top winning 3-1 before the campaign came to an untimely end.
With the fixtures coming thick and fast and both sides looking to continue their positive form this should be another entertaining match up.
Entrance for the game is £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, with an excellent printed programme for £2.
