Cray Wanderers 3-4 Bromley – PSF

Fans were treated to a seven goal thriller at Hayes Lane on Saturday when tenants hosted landlords in front of 600 fans who were all happy to be back watching their sides play.

The game was evenly contested over the whole ninety minutes with Bromley scoring three early goals before Cray played their way back into things and come close to grabbing a draw.

After an even start The Ravens took the lead on nine minutes when Trialist B finished smartly past Lewis Carey after combing well with another trialist on the edge of the box.

New Bromley striker Johnathan Alabi went close soon after, while Rhys Murrell-Williamson had a shot saved by Tariq Najia at the other end.

With The Wands playing some trademark passing football Joe Taylor went close to equalising curling an effort over Najia which hit the out side of the far post.

After soaking up some pressure Bromley went 2-0 up when Ollie Tanner hit a powerful low drive home from just inside the box.

The Ravens made it three ten minutes later when last season’s top scorer Michael Cheek coolly dinked the ball past the advancing Carey after a good move.

Only a minute later Cray grabbed a goal back when Taylor’s quick footwork saw him make space in the box before slipping the Ball past Najia for to make it 3-1.

Bradley Pritchard put a change over following good link up play with Taylor, as The Wands pressed and they made it 3-2 on 39 minutes when Freddie Parker cut in from out wide and drove the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle to set up the second half nicely

The second half saw a few changes in personnel with Alabi going close again for Bromley before they made it 4-2 when Cheek had an effort saved by Carey only for Trialist B to fire home the rebound.

Parker and Tom Phipp went close for Cray while Alabi was denied by Carey at the other end, who also saved a Frankie Raymond free kick.

With the game still evenly poised The Wands came back to 4-3 when Taylor had a shot saved by Najia but Pritchard was on hand to tap home the rebound with fifteen minutes left.

Late on Cray had a few chances to find the equaliser, which their performance deserved, but Taylor and Tom Carlse were just off target and a Trialist hit the post with a superb effort from range.

This was a very entertaining pre-season game with both sides coming out with a lot of credit and even more so those who organised the event so well.
