Cray Wanderers put on another stylish display as they defeated their National League South neighbours Welling United at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night.
Welling who fielded a number of trialists requested that their line up was not announced as they prepare for the October kick off.
The Wands started the game on the front foot with Bradley Pritchard going close twice and A Trialist volleying just over.
They eventually took the lead on 15 minutes when Freddie Parker set up Tom Carlse who drove the ball powerfully high into the net from distance.
Cray’s impressive spell continued with Mitchel Nelson. Heading over from a corner and Kyron Richards just missing a header from a Barney Williams cross.
Pritchard went close again before The Wands made it 2-0 on 38 minutes when a long ball from Lewis Carey found Joe Taylor who showed great strength and composure to control the ball and then coolly roll it into the net from ten yards out.
Welling had a couple of chances late in the half, but Cray held out to keep the two goal lead at the break.
The Wings started the second half on top, creating several good chances, but they were either just off target or found Carey in good form.
After the hour mark Cray rallied with Rhys Murrell-Williamson having an effort saved And Parker shooting just wide.
Taylor hit the post after good work on the edge of the box, before The Wings pulled one back With a superb curling effort From Dipo Akinyemi that just dropped in side the far post to make it 2-1 on 82 minutes.
The final goal of the game was the best though, when with two minutes to go Parker hit an unstoppable 30 yard free kick that sailed high into the net and hand The Wands a 3-1 win and capped a superb night for Cray.
Tony Russell’s team now travel to Hayes & Yeading on Saturday before the Isthmian League Premier Division kicks off on 19th.
