Cray Wanderers picked up their second league win in a row with an emphatic 3-0 win over Hashtag United at Flamingo Park on Saturday afternoon, moving them out of the bottom four.
The game started with Cray looking to be positive, Kenny Coker having an early shot saved by Jack Giddens.
As things went on Hashtag came back into thongs and they went close with Toby Aromolaran shooting over before Camillo Restrepo put a chance wide and the lively Sac Hassan then hit the bar after a powerful run down the left.
Just as the visitors looked to have the upper hand The Wands went in front when an Ike Orji free kick fell to Charlie Edwards on the edge of the box and he hit a superb volley that beat Giddens and found the top right hand corner of the net for 1-0 on 21 minutes.
Coker then set up Nyren Clunis who fired over, before The Tags then had another good spell, with a series of corners.
As before though, it was Cray found the net again when Orji sent in a superb cross from the right that was headed home by Edwards from ten yards out guiding the ball into the far corner of the goal to put Neil Smith’s side two up at the half.
The second half saw Cray start on top again and they were 3-0 up on 56 minutes when another great dead ball from Orji found Tom Bonner who looped his header over Giddens and into the far corner of the net.
Hashtag rallied from there with Josh Osude latching on to a Misha Djemalli pass and hitting the outside of the post and with the game wide open both sides created chances from there.
Darion Dowrich hit the side netting after a great run from Clunis, while at the other end Osude shot narrowly wide when picking up a long ball.
Clunis had a goal ruled out for The Wands before the visitors were reduced to ten men late on when Matthew Woodridge received a second yellow card for a foul in midfield.
David Ijaha set up Steffan Illic whose effort from close range was saved by Giddens and Clunis was just off target soon after.
The final chance of the game fell to the visitors, when Joshua Rusoke’s free kick from 20 yards out was Brilliantly saved by Shaun Rowley to preserve the clean sheet for The Wands and put the seal on a great win.
The Wands now travel to Cray Valley PM on Tuesday night for a local derby as they look to continue their revival.
