Cray Wanderers were knocked out of the Kent Senior Cup last night by a very impressive Charlton side which boasted a mixture of youth & experience proving to be too strong for the Ryman League Division One North leaders over the ninety minutes.
Cray started well with James Duckworth heading a Grant Basey cross just wide, but Charlton improved as the half went on and went in front in 35 minutes when confusion reigned in The Wands defence and Bergolch rolled in an easy finish although he and a team mate did appear to be well offside.
Uche Ibemere went close late on, but Cray went in trailing at the half.
The second half saw Cray start on top, but on a well constructed move up field The Addicks went 2-0 up when Kennedy smashed home an unstoppable effort from ten yards past Nicky Blue who had a very good game between the sticks for the home side.
The Wands pulled one back via the penalty spot on the hour when former Charlton defender Basey coolly slotted away his spot kick after a foul on Onome Sodje.
Charlton went 3-1 up soon after though when Joe Vines was punished for a poor tackle in the box and Moussa converted the penalty with ease.
The Wands continued to battle away with Sodje going close, but the visitors held out and secured the win with a fourth goal from Bergolch again on 83 minutes.
The Addicks side played some very attractive football with a mix of skill and power and will be a match for any of the teams they face in the next round.
Tony Russell’s Cray were by no means disgraced on the night and will now focus on their trip to Harlow on Saturday in the league looking to maintain their lead at the top of the table.
