Cray’s relegation was confirmed with a very disappointing defeat at home to play off hopefuls Kingstonian who didn’t have to move out of third gear.
A rtecebt up turm in form had spaked offf feint hopes of a late survival bid, but this performance was back to the poor showings of two months ago.
Cray started well and had the better of the early play with Moses Ashikodi, Adrian Stone and Giannoulis Fakinos all going close, but on their first real attack K’s took the lead on 22 minutes.
Ryan Moss broke down the right and sent over an inch perfect cross for Andre McCollin to head home. The Wands then seemed to lose their way as Kingstonian went on to dominate the play.
Charles Ofosu-Hene had an effort saved by Darren Behcet, Moss fired wide and McCollin had an effort saved with Ofosu-Hene heading the rebound wide.
The second half saw K’s take the initiative and press Cray back. Aaron Goode twice had good efforts saved before Bruce Hogg crossed for Sam Page to head the visitors 2-0 up on 66 minutes.
Steve Liadler had a shot saved by the impressive Behcet and McCollin hit the bar with a free kick, before Cray’s only chance saw Ashikodi have a goal ruled out for offside.
Kingstonian put the game beyond doubt on 82 minutes when Jordan Bird conceded a soft penalty and McCollin tucked the spot kick away.
Then final goal came on 87 minutes when Dimitri Larin was caught out by a long ball and Andre Da Costa nipped in to lob Behcet and make it 4-0.
Adrian Stone had a late effort saved by Rob Tolfrey who had avery quiet afternoon in the K’s goal. Da Costa went close again in injury time before the final wistle saved the home fans from any more pain.
