Cray Wanderers exited the FA Cup in this First Qualifying Round replay on Wednesday night as they were outplayed by Bognor Regis Town, who scored two goals in either half. 

Following last Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Nyewood Lane unsurprisingly the game got off to a cagey start as both teams looked to be positive, but not give too much away.

As the game went on the pace increased, sometimes to frantic levels with many turnovers in possession and free kicks. Bognor had a couple of wayward efforts on goal, but neither side really created a decent chance right up until the opening goal on 26 minutes.

Isaac Olaniyan picking the ball up in midfield and racing into the box before coolly slotting the ball into the corner of the net to put The Rocks in front. The Wands went close when Jalen Jones headed a Michael Ademiluyi free kick narrowly wide, but Bognor then doubled their lead on 34 minutes when Alfie Bridgman cut a cross back from the bye line and Nick Dembele side footed the ball home at the far post for 2-0.

Dembele almost scored again soon after when he caught Jones in possession on the edge of the area, but the Cray centre back got back to make a great saving tackle. 

The second half saw Cray start well, but within five minutes the game was as good as over when Nathan Odokonyero hit an unstoppable drive from 20 yards out to make to 3-0.

Neil Smith rang the changes from there, but before he could make his third sub, Mitch Chapman was sent off for a second bookable offence as he was making his way off the pitch.

Despite being down to ten men Cray did have a decent spell of pressure from there, but it came to nothing. Odokonyero had a shot saved by Shaun Rowley as Bognor finished the stronger and they made it 4-0 on 85 minutes when Bradley Leatherbridge put in a superb cross from the right for Tom Chalaye to finish at the far post and put the cup tie to bed. 

Bognor Regis now face Hampton & Richmond Bororugh in the next round, while Cray prepare for a league trip to Corinthian Casuals on Saturday.
