Cray Valley PM v Faversham Town preview

On Tuesday evening, two teams with different aims meet in the Isthmian League South East Football League as Cray Valley (PM) entertain Faversham Town.

Kevin Watson’s Millers have rebuilt during the summer and are just one win away from the play-off places. However, for Faversham, the ambition is to move up from the foot of the table to a position of safety.

On Saturday, Cray Valley drew two-two at home to last season’s beaten F.A. Vase finalists, Littlehampton Town. Hassan Ibrahim put them ahead just after the fifteen minute point but they were two-one down by the break.

Denzel Gayle levelled midway through the second half but neither side could find a winner.

The Millers are now on a four game unbeaten run since losing at Ashford United with two wins and two draws and they will want to extend it with another victory.

At the same time, Faversham were at the end of a heavy defeat at VCD Athletic. An eleventh minute own goal by Matt Bourne put them on the back-foot and goals for the Vickers by David Ozobia and Karl Dent made it three-nil by half time.

Soul Kader added a fourth mid-way through the second half and Anthony Adesite added a fifth one minute from time.

Six points adrift of guaranteed safety, Faversham have won just two games, both at home. Away from home they have claimed only one point in six games.

Last season’s corresponding match at the Arctic Stadium ended in a one-nil victory for the visitors in the final match of the season. Sam Bewick’s second half goal decided the match resulting in the Millers finishing in the final play off place rather than fourth.
