Ade Adeyemo scored a hat-trick as Cray Valley (PM) put Faversham Town to the sword.
It was a five-goal performance for the Millers, and had it not been for the heroics of Faversham goalkeeper George Bentley, the score-line might have looked even worse for the visitors.
Oliver Lankshear had an early opportunity for the Lilywhites when shooting wide of the near post after a good move. However, after that it was one way traffic at the other end.
Bentley made his first great save when turning over a shot by Adeyemo before he made a stunning reaction stop to keep out Connor Dymond’s header.
There was nothing that he could do to stop the Millers from going ahead in the sixth minute. A corner was knocked down to Antone Douglas and he smashed it high into the net.
In the fifteenth minute, the hosts scored again. A flowing passing move ended with Sonny Black playing in Adeyemo and Bentley was again helpless as the Cray striker finished clinically.
Barney Williams had a shot beaten out by Bentley before Hassan Ibrahim went on a long run that ended with a shot into the side netting. The Faversham goalkeeper saved from Tom Chambers and made another good save when Finn O’Mara flicked a Williams cross goal-wards.
After the interval, Chambers went on a powerful run but shot just beyond the far post before Cray added a third. Another good free flowing passing move gave Black the opportunity to square and Williams fired home a rare goal for him from the edge of the penalty area.
Williams’ clever pass then sent Denzel Gayle away and he found Adeyemo who again finished clinically.
A rare Faversham attack ended with Destiny Oladipo shooting just beyond the far post then Bradley Schafer sent Frankie Sawyer through, but Chris Lewington stood firm to make an excellent save.
Two Millers’ substitutes combined to test Bentley again. Adam Coombes was the creator for Julien Anau. Bentley saved well then was up quickly to make another astonishing stop from Adeyemo’s follow up.
Coombes burst through but Bentley made another big block before Cray made it five with seven minutes remaining. Gayle went on a long run before setting up Adeyemo to finish.
As the game drew to a close Coombes had another opportunity and measured his shot only to see it go just wide of the far post before the visitors had the final goal attempt of the match when Malachi Hudson fired a free kick over.
Victory eased the Millers into the play-off places while a second consecutive five goal trouncing left Faversham rooted to the foot of the table.
