Sometimes teams appear to not know how to lose and that seemed to be the case as Cray Valley PM came from behind to beat Whyteleafe.
Andrew Sesay and Ryan Gondoh, from the spot, gave the visitors a two goal lead but penalties either side of half time by Gavin Tomlin drew the Millers level and Frances Babalola headed the Millers in front eleven minutes into the second half.
After that, they controlled the game and deserved their eighth consecutive league win.
This was the fourth attempt to play the game which was first abandoned in October following a serious injury to Jack Sammoutis and it was an exciting encounter between two sides playing very different styles.
Visitors Whyteleafe were more direct and physical against a Cray team that wanted to play from the back and it seemed that their method was more effective in pretty awful first half conditions.
Babalola had the first goal attempt when his strong run ended with him clipping it across the face of goal before Ricardo Thompson fired wide from Whyteleafe from twenty-five yards.
Sesay drew first blood tucking home at the far post after Emmanuel Mensah got in behind and squared for him to finish.
Gondoh, who is believed to be interesting Crystal Palace, crossed for Freddie Parker to head just wide and then centred again but Sesay headed over.
At the other end, another good Babalola run ended with his shot being blocked before Parker shot wide for Whteleafe from twenty yards.
Again, Babalola looked a threat but goalkeeper Tyler McCarthy stood big to block out for a corner. Ryan Flack delivered but Kalvin Morath-Gibbs headed over.
Whyteleafe went two up when Cem Tumkaya caught Sesay in the area and Gondoh converted from the spot.
Five minutes later, the Millers pulled one back. While Whyteleafe tried to delay a free kick, Flack had the presence of mind to slip it through quickly and send Tomlin away. He was tripped as he entered the penalty area and got up to tuck home the spot kick
Just before the break, Ashley Sains headed over from a Flack corner as the hosts looked to get back onto level terms and they continued where they left off after the interval. Babalola had a shot saved before Cray scored the equaliser. Denzel Gayle burst into the penalty area and was brought down and Tomlin again converted confidently.
Now, well on top, the hosts didn’t waste much time in going ahead. Sains broke down the right wing and crossed to the far post for Babalola to head home from close range.
Chances were few and far between after that with the Millers containing the visitors well whilst looking dangerous on the break. Babalola fired across the face of goal but Gayle was just unable to reach to finish and substitute Ryan King-Elliott had a shot blocked after combining well with Tomlin.
However, neither goalkeeper was called upon to make another save and it was Cray who were celebrating at the end.
Victory for Kevin Watson’s side moved them into third place, five points behind Hastings United with ten games left to play.
