Victory at Cray Valley PM put Sevenoaks Town in the driving seat in the Velocity Trophy Group Nine.
Captain Tom Ripley scored the only goal with six minutes remaining that put the Oaks clear at the top whilst ending the Millers’ hopes of progress.
It was tough on Kevin Watson’s team who were the better team for the first hour but Sevenoaks finished strongly and looked the more likely to win as the game wore on.
Cem Tumkaya missed the Millers first chance when heading over before Warren Mfula shot across the face of goal and just beyond the far post.
Ryan Flack had a shot deflected wide before Paul Semakula sent Mfula away but his shot came back off the base of the post.
Francis Babalola was then thwarted by a stunning save by Patrick Lee then Matthew Warren headed wide from Emilliano Hysi’s corner.
At the other end Dan Parkinson’s free kick caused chaos but Ainsley Everett was unable to control it to finish and the Millers were soon back on the attack with Lee again doing well to save, this time fro Hysi. The last chance of the half also fell to Cray Valley but Babalola’s driven cross came too quickly for Kweku Ansah to control in front of goal.
After the interval, Andy Walker made his first save, holding on well from Alec Fiddes’ low shot but the Millers were soon on the attack again and Lee made another good save from Mfula.
Babalola then fired well over after an excellent passing move set up the opportunity before the Oaks started to create chances. Nathan Gordon came in at the far post but took a touch that allowed Walker to smother the loose ball then Gordon turned provider with a cross that Everett put into the side netting.
Despite being wrong footed, Lee made another good save from a deflected shot after Flack had caused chaos but moments later Ripley lost his marker and powered his header home.
Although Sevenoaks hearts were in their mouths with a late goalmouth scramble, they defended it well and Micky Collins’ team saw out the four additional minutes to claim the points.
