Cray Ladies showed great bouncebackability today as they put in a terrific performance winning 6-0 to halt a run of three successive defeats albeit the last two by the narrowest of margins.
Having been guilty of starting slowly last week they were very much on the ascendancy from the off, taking the lead from a corner in the 12th minute with Courtney Feagan getting the vital final touch.
Danielle De Souza went close on a couple of occasions as chances continued to be created, the best being a header which hit the cross bar and rebounded down and out.
Cray Valley eventually got the second which their play had fully deserved and this time it was Eve Sales on hand to fire home from close range after Lia Morphitis’s was prevented from heading in low down as the defender did well to block her.
Aylesford had defended well throughout the half with the goalkeeper Lily Bennett making some very good saves, one notably from a Lucy Robertson strike. Half Time 2-0
The second half saw Cray Valley continue their dominancy, with Katie Jackson prominent down the flank and Annemarie Blanche added the third in the 52nd minute.
A superb Lucy Robertson corner was powerfully headed home by Danielle De Souza for the fourth and then Annemarie Blanche added her second of the game from the penalty spot after Katie Jackson had been fouled just inside the box.
Lia Morphitis scored the sixth and final goal with a well hit strike from distance giving the keeper no chance.
Full Time 6-0
Cray Valley can be pleased with this performance with every single one of the 14 player squad making a positive contribution.
Next week they make the short trip to local rivals Long Lane at Dursley Lane for another league game.
