Crawley up for new season
Crawley up for new season

Kent & England’s opening batter Zak Crawley has spoken about Kent Spitfires’ new Castore Vitality Blast playing kit for 2025/26, how Kent Men’s T20 side is shaping up for the Summer, working with Adam Hollioake, and his availability for his home county this season.

“I really like it. It’s very comfortable,” he says, looking down at his new Kent T20 kit. “I think it’s quite simple, but that’s good. I think it looks smart, and hopefully, we play smart!

“I think we’ve got an exciting squad. It didn’t go our way last year, but I think this year we start new, and hopefully go all the way.

“Tawanda [Muyeye] just catches my eye every time he bats. I was batting with him yesterday in the nets, I think he’s just an unbelievable talent. Hopefully, he has a great year.

“I think signing Chris Benjamin can be really good for us. He’s obviously proven himself in T20 before. So, yeah, those two would be the names that people might not spring to mind for most people but are actually going to be big for us.”

With Zak aiming to feature for the Spitfires in this Summer’s Vitality Blast, he’s also keen to be at his home county for the start of the season.

“I’m going to be around for the start of the year, for sure. Can’t wait to get stuck in with the new coach. Yes, definitely the first few Championship games. We’ll see how it goes with England, we’ve got a Test Match in May and then in end of June towards August, but hopefully, I’ll play the first half of the [Vitality] Blast as well.”

Crawley is also looking forward to playing under Adam Hollioake.

“He’s old-school, Aussie… Well, he’s English, actually, but he’s got that Aussie mentality about him, obviously! He spent a lot of time in Australia.

“It’s what we need at the moment for our team, just a bit of more of that old-school look at it. Just a bit more ruthless, a bit more clinical. I think it’s coming at a really good time.”

Zak signed a one-year contract extension for this Summer, but this doesn’t mean he’s looking elsewhere domestically.

“Very easy decision [to stay]. I don’t know why, but I always felt like I just don’t like looking too far ahead, so I like signing one-year deals.

“But in my eyes, I’m very much on staying at Kent and helping the side win some games of cricket this year.

“Then at the end of the year, we’ll look on to the next year after that. But I’m very focused on this year and winning games with Kent.”

Kent Spitfires’ Castore T20 playing kit for the next two seasons is available to order now, and will be worn in the Vitality Blast.

A bold, colour-led design, unashamedly ‘cherry and blue’, the Spitfires will wear this new design in the all-action Vitality Blast T20 competition, which begins on 30 May away at Gloucestershire.

Vitality Blast T20 cricket is taking place in Canterbury across multiple Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons this June & July – in front of bumper crowds & electric atmosphere!
