Cowan becomes latest Dynamos capture

Invicta Dynamos Player-Coach Anthony Leone has added another new face to the roster for the 2020/21 season by completing the signing of 21 year old forward Ross Cowan from rivals Romford.

Ross Cowan spent his junior years in Essex before making his first senior appearance for the Warriors in the NIHL South Division 2 in 2014/15. He would continue icing in the NIHL’S second tier until a switch to Canada for the 2016/17 and 2017/18 campaigns.

In 2016/17 Cowan featured for the Ontario Hockey Academy at under 18 level and notched 18 goals whilst claiming 21 assists for 39 points in 56 Midget Hockey outings. The following term he then jumped to the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL) where he donned the jersey of the Ontario based Bradford Rattlers. Here he featured 34 times and added 3 goals and 4 assists for 7 points.

In 2018/19 Cowan was back in the UK and at his hometown club Chelmsford where he played 26 times for the Chieftains. 6 goals and 10 assists saw him amass 16 points before a switch to the Romford Junior Raiders for the 2019/20 campaign. Competing in the same tier as the Dynamos, Cowan played 27 league games, finding the net 7 times, claiming 14 assists and so finishing with 21 points.

Now the battling forward is looking to further make a name for himself in the division with a summer switch to Gillingham and the Mos for the upcoming season.

Speaking on his move to Kent, Ross Cowan said, “I am really happy to have completed my move to the Invicta Dynamos for 2020/21. I am looking forward to playing with the boys in a well structured and skilful team and to icing in front of Invicta’s passionate and loyal fans.”

“I’ll be hoping to bring speed and a bit of grit to the already talented offence. This season I want to continue develop as a player and have a good campaign with a top competitive team.”

Player-Coach Anthony Leone commented on his latest acquisition saying, “Ross will be a strong addition to the roster for the new season. He is still young and hungry to make his way in the game, he has a good level of experience, he will bring physicality and grit to our forward lines, he has good speed and he is capable of getting amongst the points.”

“I’m sure the fans will take to him quickly and I look forward to working with him when the new campaign gets underway.”
