Medway Council have issued a statement regarding the situation with Gillingham Football Club and the training ground at Beechings Cross.
The Council had issued a statement a few days ago stating that the Club owed them £34,000, but that issue seems to be closer to a resolution with the following statement issued by Medway Council:
In regards to the issue over Gillingham Football Club and the Beechings Cross training ground:
A Medway Council spokesman said: “We are pleased to announce that Gillingham FC has made a payment towards its use of Beechings Cross training ground.
“The council is working on arrangements to get a new lease signed for the use of the ground before the start of the new season.”
Gillingham are now set to continue using Beechings Cross for pre-season and for the forthcoming League Two campaign.
Talks between the two parties took place as soon as it emerged the club were in arrears for the use of the land at Beechings Cross, owned by Medway Council, along with monies owed for utility costs.
Meanwhile, Martin Allen’s unusual training methods have been introduced to the Gillingham squad as they were taken to the Strand for a dip at the Lido on Friday afternoon.
