Old adversaries come head to head in what promises to be a Christmas Monday cracker at Gay Dawn Farm, as Kevin Watson takes his table topping side to face Corinthian.
Since their first meeting in September 2011, these two sides have met on 18 previous occasions with The Millers narrowly shading the spoils, although away wins have been very much at a premium for either side.
When the teams last met on a balmy August Bank Holiday Monday, Connor Dymond’s 64th minute strike settled what had been a tense physical encounter in Valley’s favour.
Since then, The Hoops have maintained a comfortable mid-table position, occasionally pulling surprising results out of the bag such as their 2-1 victory over Hastings United in Longfield at the start of November.
The Millers have suffered a downturn in results of late although, given that they appeared to have had a weekly engagement with fellow promotion challengers, they have done well to enter the Christmas period still at the summit.
After missing the midweek trip to AFC Sudbury, Denzel Gayle will no doubt be looking for a match winning performance on his old stomping ground as both managers cast a nervous eye over the health of their players during the Christmas period.
