Mike Conway will make his first appearance at the 2017 Motul Petit Le Mans this weekend as he rejoins Whelen Engineering Racing for the 10-hour race at Road Atlanta.
The 20th anniversary of the Motul Petit Le Mans represents the season finale for the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and also the fourth and final road round of the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup.
After starring with the Action Express Whelen Engineering team at the Rolex 24 Hours and the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, Mike Conway reunites with Dane Cameron and Eric Curran in the #31 Cadillac DPi.
This weekend marks Mike’s first appearance at the 2.54-mile Road Atlanta circuit. The track is nestled within the natural terrain and rolling hills of Georgia and is recognized as one of the world’s best road courses.
The #31 Whelen Engineering Racing team currently stand second in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with the team collecting four podium finishes across the season, including the outright win at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
Mike Conway is excited for a new challenge this weekend and is looking forward to helping the team end the season positively.
“This weekend marks my final race of 2017 with Action Express and the last round of their championship. I’ll be looking to do all I can to help the team get a good result so they can finish their championship on a high. I’ve never been to Road Atlanta before so I’m looking forward to my first time as it looks like a mega track!”
Qualifying for the 10-hour endurance race starts on Friday at 10:35 (BST) with the race commencing on Saturday at 16:05.
