Mike Conway returns to the Daytona International Speedway this week with Action Express as he reunites with Felipe Nasr, Pipo Derani and Filipe Albuquerque in the #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-VR.
The Brit will return to the iconic 24 hour race for the third time after competing in the race with Action Express in 2017 and 2018, with his best result of second place coming in the latter. He was due to be part of the team’s squad in 2019 but was unable to compete at the last minute due to visa issues.
Conway, who competes full time in FIA WEC with Toyota Gazoo Racing where he is currently leading the World Championship, has regularly featured in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Michelin Endurance Cup with Action Express – collecting four podiums from his eight races with the team.
“I’m excited to be back with Action Express Racing, we’ve had some good memories since we first raced together in 2017.” said Conway. “We’ve had some good results and been on the podium at Daytona before but obviously the win has just eluded us.
“I know the team and my fellow drivers well; I raced with Albuquerque last year, and drove my last Daytona with Nasr, so I know just how rapid they both are. Derani is a quick driver himself so I feel we have one of the strongest lineups for this year’s race, and I think we can have a good result.”
