Conway commits future to Toyota

World Endurance Championship star, Mike Conway, has pledged his future to Toyota as he signs a new multi-year deal with the Japanese manufacturer.

Mike, from Sevenoaks, first joined forces with TOYOTA in 2014, where the British driver joined the team as their test and reserve driver, whilst he was still competing in IndyCar. Mike instantly showcased his worth as he partnered with Stéphane Sarrazin and Alexander Wurz to take victory in Bahrain in only Mike’s second race with the manufacturer.

After a thoroughly impressive debut season with TOYOTA, Mike became a full-time driver for the 2015 season, partnering with Stéphane Sarrazin and Alexander Wurz, and finished 6th in the Drivers’ Championship.

Mike’s most successful season followed in 2016 as he, partnered with Kamui Kobayashi and Stéphane Sarrazin, finished 3rd in the Driver’s Championship – including six podiums from nine races and an outright victory at the 6 Hours of Fuji! Four pole positions and three podium finishes followed in 2017 as Mike finished the season in 5th place.

This year will see Mike in the #7 car competing with an unchanged line-up with Kamui Kobayashi and José María López as TOYOTA embark on the World Endurance Championship “Super Season” which will run through 2018 and 2019 and will include two trips to the infamous Le Mans.

Mike is delighted to re-sign with TOYOTA and is looking forward to an exciting future with the team.

“I’m really pleased to re-sign with TOYOTA, we’ve had a fantastic few years working together and I look forward to continuing this relationship as we embark on the Super Season. After the withdrawal of Porsche at the end of 2017, it’s great to see the LMP1 category attracting so much attention from privateers so we should have some thrilling races coming up over the next two years.”
