Mike Conway will partner up with Action Express Racing for the 2021 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, with the British driver joining the team for the series’ four endurance events.
Entering their fifth season together, Mike will join the team to contest the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona in January, the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March, Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen in June and the Motul Petit Le Mans season finale in October.
The 37-year-old will partner Felipe Nasr and Pipo Derani in the #31 Whelen Engineering Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R.
Originally set to compete in the 2020 season, Mike was only able to compete at the Rolex 24 earlier this year before the coronavirus pandemic brought the racing calendar to a halt.
With a wealth of experience and success in endurance racing, Mike is set to contest the 2019-20 FIA World Endurance Championship season finale this weekend, where he’s firmly in the hunt to be crowned World Champion.
An impressive CV for Mike boasts 11 wins and 29 podiums across seven seasons in WEC, including three second-place finishes at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Kent-based driver has also claimed four podium results in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, with a second-place finish at the 2018 Daytona 24 Hours among them.
Speaking about the opportunity, Conway said: “I’m delighted to be racing with Action Express Racing again in 2021. I’ve really enjoyed our time together over the past four years with our podium at Daytona in 2018 being a real highlight. I missed racing with the team this season so I’m sure we’ll make up for it in 2021. The endurance races in IMSA are always great to be a part of so I’m really excited to get the season going at Daytona in January.”
