Mike Conway made it a brace of seventh places from the Honda IndyCar series race in Toronto at the weekend.
Conway had already come through the field on Saturday to secure an impressive seventh place in race one and in race two his drive was even more impressive.
Having qualified in 24th on the grid he started from 23rd place and had to carve his way through the field in the No. 18 Sonny’s Bar-B-Q Honda for Dale Coyne Racing.
Once again the 29-year-old showed just what class he had by moving through to 16th place in the early stages of the race, before he struggled a little bit during the middle stint of the race.
Then when it came to the final 20 laps of the race Conway was once again underlining his talent by working his way through the midfield. As the race drew to a close he had to avoid a three car crash and bring his car home for another impressive seventh place finish.
Speaking after the race a pleased Conway said: “It was another really tough race. To start from the back and to be able to finish seventh I am very happy about. It certainly wasn’t easy as I could overtake some cars in certain turns and then in others we would give the spot back. Not sure why it happened so will be interesting to see what the data says. I need to thank Dale Coyne for giving me the chance to be able to race with his team again and looking forward to returning for Houston if not before.”
In 58 starts, Conway has earned 17 top-10 finishes, five top-fives and two wins. However in the five starts he has made this year, he has come away with one win, a third, two sevenths and a pole.
Conway will return to Europe for his full time duties in the World Endurance Championship for Delta-ADR. His next race is the Six Hours of Sao Paulo in Brazil on the 1st September.
