The Renault UK Clio Cup heads to Thruxton this bank holiday weekend with a 24 strong field all vying for victory.
Once again Kent will be represented by Mike Bushell who is currently sixth in the standings in his Renault Clio, he is already a double podium finisher this season.
Unfortunately for the man from Tonbridge Wells a non-finish in the last set of races means he fell a bit further behind Championship leader Paul Rivett. Had he finished he could have been two places higher up the standings in fourth place.
Rivett is already a three time champion and leads the way after a double victory last time out and he will be hoping to extend his 13 point lead this weekend at Thruxton.
There are a number of drivers all vying to knock him off top spot and with the ultra-competitive nature of the Clio Cup UK it is possible that anything can happen on a race weekend.
Alex Morgan is pursuing the Champion and that is impressive as he is in his rookie season in front wheel drive racing having previously driven in Formula Renault, and he is consistently adding podium finishes at Brands and Donington.
James Colburn could be the man to watch this weekend, he won the opening two rounds of the season and last season he won the two races at Thruxton so clearly knows his way round the circuit and it suits his driving style.
Qualifying will take place on Saturday morning for races five and six of the season, with the action getting underway on track on at 16:35 on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday the final race of the weekend for the Renault UK Clio Cup will take place at 12:40 and you will be able to see that live on ITV4 as part of their British Touring Car coverage.
