Following the recent announcement that Simon Philip will retire as Chair of Kent Cricket, the Club can confirm that Simon will hand over to elected Board director Jamie Clifford.
Having been elected by the Elected Directors, he will Chair the Board, on an interim basis, until the Club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in 2025, before which it is expected that Non-Executive Director vacancies on the Board will be filled and a long-term Chair will be appointed.
Jamie was Chief Executive of the Club from 2010 until early 2018, having previously served as Cricket Development Director for Kent Cricket Board from 2002.
He became a Vice-President of the Club in 2018, and went on to be Assistant Secretary (Membership & Operations) of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), a post he held for three years. He became a Board Director of Kent Cricket in 2022. Jamie currently is Secretary of Rye Golf Club.
Jamie Clifford said: “I care deeply about Kent Cricket and it will be an honour to serve the Club in the coming months as Chair.
“I am looking forward to supporting the Board, our Chief Executive and the executive team as we reinforce our plans for the Club’s future growth.
“My hope is that I can ensure things are in good shape for a long-term successor to tackle the challenges and exploit the opportunities that lie ahead.”
