Chief Executive Jamie Clifford is hoping for a bumper crowd as Kent face possibly their biggest game in years at Canterbury today.Jamie Clifford

The Spitfires will face Gloucestershire in the Quarter Final of the Royal London Cup with the winner going one step closer to a Lord’s Final.

With ticket sales strong and the weather set fair, Clifford is hoping the paying public of Kent come out and support their local side:

“Since we played Leicestershire in the Twenty 20 back in 2011, this has to be our biggest game and probably is our biggest game at home since 2009.”

“It will be a huge day and I reckon the folk of Kent will come out in big numbers and hopefully cheer our boys to a famous victory.”

“I’m realistic about a sell-out, but I’m hoping for a very good crowd. The forecast is very good and that is a huge boost for everybody.”

With both Doug Bollinger and James Tredwell missing, Clifford is hoping the stars on show can do the job and get Kent qualified:

“In an ideal world we would have had those guys, but when Doug was away injured in the middle of the summer the guys won three Championship games without him.”

“Tredders would be one of your first names on the teamsheet, but it is what it is and the Quarter Finals were staged in the middle of the England ODI series.”

“It will give Adam Riley his chance, although it is curious scheduling of 50 over cricket. The dressing room are of the attitude that we go with what we have got and we will go about picking the side that is best equipped to get us to the semi-finals.”Cricket - tour match - Kent v Sri Lanka - The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, Canterbury, England

For wicketkeeper Sam Billings, everyone is looking forward to the game and the side can’t wait to get out there and show the form they have shown all season in the Royal London Cup:

“We have been playing some really good cricket in the Royal London Cup and we believe we have still got a lot more to give, both with ball and bat.”

“If we play anywhere near our best, we will be absolutely fine.”

“It’s gone well for me in this competition and hopefully that continues. I just keep trying to smoke it out of the park and play my own game.”

“We’ve talked about going to Lord’s, but we have to take it one game at a time and we’re all really looking forward to Friday.”
