Bromley came back from Lancashire with a point after a dour opening game to the season away at National League newcomers Chorley.
Having lost Korey Henry and Marc-Anthony Okoye to injury Neil Smith brought in Michael Klass on loan from Southend to add options from the bench.
Lining up 4-5-1, the Ravens started the game looking lively as did their hosts playing their first game at this level for 28years, backed by a large home support and the initial play was high paced stuff.
Both teams looked to take the direct route to goal, playing percentages and keeping the ball in the air, but neither had the quality to create real chances.
The game settled down after a frantic start, with the first shot on goal coming 21minutes in when Elliott Newby forced a save from Mark Cousins. Marcus Carver had a looping effort saved soon after and Newby was just off target before Bromley finally had a shot when Frankie Raymond hit a free kick narrowly wide.
Late on In the half The Ravens best chance fell to Michael Cheek when Chorley keeper Joe Anyon spilled a throw out to him, but the ex Ebbsfleet man could only tamely play the ball back to the home custodian having taken the ball too wide.
Bromley started the second half on top, but again failed to make any real chances. The main point of attack was George Porter’s long throws into the box, but The Magpies defended well and were largely untroubled by the tactic.
Raymond was off target with a free kick which was the sum total of chances The Ravens created. Late on the half Chorley had a good spell, Newby shot over from distance, but they also were unable to really threaten the solid Visitors defence.
Bromley now take on Ebbsfleet Utd at home on Tuesday night, looking to find their scoring touch and make a good start to the league campaign.
