Charlton confirmed on Sunday that their final pre-season game against Chievo has been cancelled, quoting logistical problems as the reason.
Chievo’s English schedule always looked challenging. They had matches planned for Friday 31 July at Bolton, Saturday 1 August at Charlton and Sunday 2 August against Queens Park Rangers.
It would have been impossible for the Italians to field strong sides at both the Macron and The Valley, given the distance between the grounds and there being less than a day between the two games.
The Trotters and the Addicks moved swiftly at the end of last week to replace their cancelled Chievo matches with a game against each other.
Guy Luzon’s side will travel to the Macron on Friday 31 July, for an encounter that will kick-off at 8.00pm.
Charlton fans wishing to see the match will either have to stay in Bolton overnight, or brave the horrors of the M6 and Manchester motorway network on a Friday afternoon.
Ticket details will be announced in due course.
