Chesterfield vs Bromley preview

Bromley make the trip up to Chesterfield on Saturday afternoon for their next National League fixture looking to turn around a recent dip in form that has seen them lose the lead at the top of the table.

Last Saturday Bromley drew 1-1 at home to Yeovil Town conceding a 97th minute equaliser, but the draw kept Neil Smith’s side in second place with 41 points from 24 matches played.

The Ravens have only won three of their last ten matches in all competitions and will be looking to find their form again with the chasing pack closing in. Only four points separate second from seventh.

Following relegation from the Football League in 2018, Chesterfield are having a tough second season at this level under manager John Sheridan, they currently sit third from bottom with 23 points from as many games. The Spirerites are without a win in five, but last weekend they did draw 2-2 at home to Aldershot Town thanks to an injury time goal from Tom Denton.

When the teams met at Hayes Lane in September the Ravens won 2-1 with a double from Michael Cheek either side of a Liam Manderville goal. When Bromley made the trip up to Chesterfield last November they drew 1-1, conceding an injury time penalty.

Bromley manager Smith has said his squad is down to the bare bones at the moment with a mounting number of injuries. Jake Goodman, Adrian Clifton, Jordan Higgs & Mark Cousins are out long term, while Marc-Anthony Okoye has had to retire.

Also missing last week were Joe Kizzi and Reeco Hackett-Fairchild. Fortunately Korey Henry has returned from his loan spell at Welling Utd, but defender Rarmani Edmonds-Green has been recalled by Huddersfield Town.

This should be another tight encounter between two sides looking to find a decent run of form, with Bromley trying to keep pace at the top and Chesterfield looking to get away from the relegation zone.
