Chris Solly’s recovery from the migraine that sidelined him against Rochdale, plus the return of Johnnie Jackson, gave the Addicks a far more balanced look against Stevenage in Saturday.

Dale Stephens played further forward than of late and Danny Green switched back to the right as Powell was able to field his first choice team.

Bradley Wright-Phillips finally ended his barren run when he netted the second goal but he did also miss some golden opportunities. Whether the game has restored Wright-Phillips’ confidence remains to be seen.

Chesterfield are rock bottom of the division and have found goals hard to come by. Veteran striker, Jack Lester, and Craig Westcarr will pose the biggest threats to the Addicks rearguard.

Having regained some of their old panache against Stevenage, it would be a surprise if Powell tampered with the team. He is likely to send this side out:

Hamer; Solly, Taylor, Morrison, Wiggins; Green, Stephens, Hollands, Jackson; Kermorgant, Wright-Phillips.

Subs: Sullivan, Cort, Pritchard, Haynes, Clarke.

Colin Webster from Tyne & Wear will take charge of the game.

Though they are in a lowly position, Chesterfield beat Sheffield Wednesday in their last home game so the Addicks must ensure they stay focused. If they do that, they should return down the M1 with the three points.
