For the fourth Saturday in five weeks, Welling United have a long trip north to undergo.
Having travelled to Grimsby, Wrexham and Altrincham in the last few weeks, they head to Chester on Saturday.
Last Saturday, they ended their run of five consecutive away defeats with a resounding 4-0 win at Altrincham. Now they set off to Cheshire with confidence as they are unbeaten in four matches.
Chester have won three of their last four games so they won’t be lacking in self-belief either. Whilst Welling were being held by Dartford, the Cheshire team returned from AFC Telford with three hard earned points.
Their home games have resulted in three wins and three defeats. Macclesfield, Southport and Wrexham returned from Chester empty handed. However, Barnet, FC Halifax Town and Torquay United all plundered three points
In the corresponding fixture last season, Welling enjoyed one of their most commanding away performances all term. Jamie Day offered full debuts to two players and they both contributed to the cause. Harry Cornick put the Wings ahead and the industry of Tobi Sho-Silva was responsible for the second, finished easily by Ross Lafayette.
Nine minutes into the second half, Joe Healy added a third. Although Matty Taylor pulled one back two minutes later, Chester never looked likely to get back into the game and their misery was compounded when Ross Killock was dismissed for a second yellow card.
There are two points and one league place in Chester’s favour between the clubs and both teams will be looking for the victory that will pull them clear of the relegation zone.
