Chelmsford Chieftains 6-8 Invicta Dynamos

The Invicta Dynamos secured a remarkable victory in Essex on Saturday night against the league leaders Chelmsford Chieftains.

Dynamos welcomed back both Damien King and James Richardson whilst Adam McNicoll also returned to the roster. Only Taylor Wootton failed to make the trip due to illness.  For Chelmsford, import D man Lukas Zatopek missed out resulting in reserve import Andruis Kaminskas stepping-up to give the Chieftains a full compliment of imports on their roster.
King making first save of the game on 2 minutes from G. Bartlett. First penalty landed on 3:06, a tripping penalty on Adam McNicoll, but Dynamos broke early on when Rehak screwed a shot wide.
First goal came on 05:33, Juraj Huska slotting into the corner of the net after being set-up by Cameron Bartlett.
Steve Osman tried a toe-drag and shot on 8 minutes but once Clements saved Grant Bartlett broke clear at the other end but Damien King won the one on one battle.
With the second period starting at 1-0 to the hosts the Mo’s almost scored straight from the face-off, Rehak drawing a save from Clements, and a penalty on Sean Barry of  Chelmsford – which Callum Fowler took advantage of as he pulled the Mo’s level of 20:29 for 1-1, assisted by Rehak and Arran Strawson.
Seconds later, Alex Staples was penalised for holding an opponents stick – resulting in Arran Strawson putting the Dynamos ahead on 21:51, Rehak and Fowler assisting.  Moments later Ashley Jackson also rattled the bar – the Dynamos a different side in the second period.
Slightly against the run of play the Chieftains pulled level on 29:58 through Juraj Huska unassisted.  The Dynamos replied on 33:31, Ashley Jackson tapping the puck over the line after Mason Webster cut the puck across the Chieftains goalmouth for 2-3 to the visitors.
Weak defending on the 3rd line let Chelmsford draw level on 35:40, Danny Hammond the scorer. With time ticking towards the close of the second period Elliott Dewey gave away a holding penalty – Grant Bartlett taking advantage to score and give the Chieftains a 4-3 lead at the end of the period.
Within a few minutes of the 3rd period Callum Wells got two penalty minutes for roughing, giving the Mo’s a powerplay. On 42:15 Arran Strawson equalised for 4-4, only for the Chieftains to edge in front again on 43:14 through Jake Sylvester.
A silly Dynamos bench penalty for too many men resulted in Chelmsford going 6-4 ahead on 46:41 through Matt Turner.
The Dynamos lost Damien King through injury again on 48 minutes, with James Richardson stepping-up to replace him in the nets.
Dynamos pulled a goal back through Rehak in the 52nd minute on for 6-5, Webster and Strawson assisting.  Then,  on 56:25 Callum Fowler brought it back to 6-6 assisted by Steve Osman.  Unbelievably Mason Webster then put the Dynamos in front on 57:11, being put through by Adam Rehak to beat Clements. Chelmsford now chasing the game pulled Clements, leaving an empty net which Ashley Jackson shot into for a famous 6-8 victory and two vital league points.

Man of the match awards went to Arran Strawson for his 2 goals and 2 assists, with Huska getting the reward for the hosts
