Chatham Town Women’s midfielder Jas Auguste has played her last League game for the club this season as when the Chats play their final League game away to Cambridge United this Sunday, Jas will be pounding the streets of London in aid of Barnardo’s in the 2025 London Marathon.

Jas netted her first goal of the season in the Chats’ final home League game of the season before Easter against Chesham United and spoke to us about her marathon efforts.
“It’s something that I always wanted to do,” Jas admitted. “I regularly ran before I had my son Caleb, and I started running after he was born – I wanted to inspire him, and it has helped me too.”
“I am running the Marathon for Barnardo’s.” Jas continued. “I applied through them for a place, as growing up, I have had a lot of influence from them in my life – being a single mum from an estate – they came and did projects where I lived and they have been able to help with most things that you are dealt with in life and it’s something that is really close to me.”
“To be able to help kids who may not have anything at home is great – the training has gone well, I am feeling good, I am feeling confident, and I am aiming for four hours… I am projected that so we’ll see how things will go on the day.”
“I have been told by people that they can see my training has gone well as it has helped me. Before I had Caleb, I was very fit and now I am coming back to those levels again, and it’s helped… it really has.”
Looking back on the Chats’ last home League and their 10-0 drubbing of Chesham, Jas told us, “It’s a great way to finish our home season and get loads of goals in a good performance is good!”
“We wanted to go out with a good performance and I think we did that; we should have won this League really – we’ve been strong, but there have been moments where we’ve let ourselves down on a couple of occasions, but what a way to sign off.”
The Chats will be going for a third Cup Final on Wednesday night when they welcome Portsmouth’s development side to the Bauvill in the Combined Counties League Cup after already securing the Isthmian League Cup by beating Billericay Town 5-0 in the Final and have also already secured a place in next week’s Kent Cup Final at the Gallagher against Dartford.
Reflecting on the one trophy already in the cabinet, Jas said, “They were a League above us and that night we showed the level that we can compete at, and if we’d have played that well all season, there’s no doubt that we would have won the League in my view.”
“We’ll build on that next year, but we have one and maybe two more Cup Finals to go this year…”
“I’m hoping to be fit enough to play against Dartford in the Kent Cup Final as it’s just four days after the Marathon…”
The Chats boss Keith Boanas was asked about Jas’s efforts and he told KSN, “She’s been training two or three times a week with our fitness man, and the improvement in her since last year is phenomenal – the fitness levels that she has reached are above and beyond considering she is a mum as well.”
“Others have improved too, but Jess is exceptional – the levels as a group are brilliant which means that we haven’t lost games because we haven’t been fit enough.”
“We will miss her at Cambridge but she’s running for an incredible cause, and I will certainly be dropping something into her Just Giving page and I would ask anyone reading this to do the same.”
