Chatham Town continued their run of victories with an emphatic win over their Kent rivals Hythe Town and with results going their way they now top the table.
This performance was 100 times better than last week & showed what a good team they are & they can go from strength to strength & dream of promotion.
The game started quickly for Chatham as in the 6th minute they took the lead when Matt Bodkin who would have an influence in the game, received the ball on the left went past the defender & from the by-line crossed into the 6 yard area for Emmanuel Oloyede who headed in.
Chatham were now on top & in the 18th minute Seidou Sanogo tried his luck from 25 yards but it went just past the post.
Six minutes later it was two when Jack Evans free kick to the back post was knocked back for Dan Bradshaw to tap in from one yard.
In the 33rd minute a bit of class came when Evans 40 yards out spotted Steven Phillips off his line & chipped him. In the 43rd minute Evans nearly got his second when he received the ball from a throw in & from 25 yards his goal bound shot was pushed around the post by Phillips.
Half time arrived & there was only one team in the game, Chatham were on top & Hythe had not even had a shot on target.
The second half started with Hythe finally getting to grips with the game & in the 46th substitute Josh Stirman saw his 20 yard snapshot easily saved by Ben Bridle-Card, this was their first shot on target in anger.
Two minutes later they got a goal back when a cross into the 6 yard box saw substitute Johan Caney-Bryan’s shot deflect into the net flat footing Bridle-Card.
This startled Chatham for a couple of minutes before they got back in the game. In the 56th minute Josh Ogunseye saw his close range shot saved & then in the 62nd minute Matt Bodkin on the left crossed into the area where Bradshaw rose & headed in.
Nine minutes later it was five when a Bodkin cross from the right to the back post found substitute Daniel Thompson who rose & headed in.
Chatham were now enjoying themselves while Hythe would probably want the game to stop now. In the 85th minute it was nearly six when substitute Prince Domafriyie on the edge of the area saw his shot pushed over the bar by Phillips but two minutes later it was six when Bodkin on the left got to the by-line & his low pass found substitute Callum Peck who was making his second debut for Chatham, he controlled it & shot home from 10 yards.
The final whistle went & the Chatham players & supporters were in heaven while the Hythe players quickly left the pitch humiliated.
