Chatham Town got back to winning but they did put their supporters through the ringer, after going two up & in control of the game Lancing got a goal back and made it a nervy 35 minutes but again they survived and shows what character this team has.
In the 2nd minute Matt Bodkin picked up a loose ball & his 25 yard shot went just past the post. Two minutes later Lancing had one of their few chances in the first half when a Darius Goldsmith free kick into the area found Reece Hallard but his header was easily saved by Ben Bridle-Card.
In the next minute Chatham took the lead when Fabio Saraiva received the ball on the right 20 yards out & his shot beat Alieu Secka, four minutes later Jack Evans tried his luck from 25 yards but his shot went just past the post.
In the 12th minute Chatham doubled their lead Mohamed Zabadne slipped & Dan Bradshaw latched on to it & went into the area & his shot was blocked but came out to Evans & his shot was blocked but came out to Saraiva who shot home from 5 yards.
Chatham were now in total control & bossing the game & in the 32nd minute they nearly tripled their lead when Evans put Debutant Billy Bennett into the area & he controlled it but shot wide.
In the 40th minute Lancing had a half chance to get a goal back when Hallard 30 yards out saw his shot go just past the post.
Half time arrived & most people in the crowd were thinking would this be a landslide win or would Chatham relax & let Lancing back into the game?
Chatham started the second half as they left the first & in the 51st minute had a glorious chance to increase their lead when Evans put Bodkin through & he ran into the area but from 8 yards his shot was saved by Secka.
Two minutes later Bodkin on the left got to the by-line & crossed to the back post where Saraiva was & his header went just wide.
On the hour Lancing got a goal back when Modou Jammeh on the left saw his low cross find Kane Louis who shot home from 15 yards.
In the 62nd minute Chatham should have scored when Lateef Adaja went into the area before squaring for Bradshaw & from 7 yards his shot was saved by Secka when it seemed easier to score would they regret this.
Lancing were now enjoying a lot more possession & were making the Chatham supporters nervous & in the 81st minute they could have equalised when a cross to the back post saw Ollie Starkey on his own see his shot saved by Bridle-Card from 4 yards out.
The final whistle went & relief went all round the ground but this shows what a good team they are & promotion is still on the cards.
