Chatham Town won this eagerly awaited clash against their nearest rivals for promotion, Ramsgate and in front of a record crowd.
Both sides were very cautious to begin with but as the game went on Chatham seemed to be the team that wanted it.
The first chance of the game came in the 8th minute when Chatham on a breakaway saw Jack Evans on the edge of the area shoot, but Josh Bexon palmed it away but straight to Danny Kedwell but his first time shot from 8 yards went wide of the post.
Ramsgate had their first half chance come in the 16th minute when Jack Paxman saw his 20 yards shot hit the crossbar.
The game went quiet for a while as both sides cancelled each out, then in the 35th minute Ashley Nzala running through saw his shot from 20 yards pushed around the post.
Five minutes later Che Krabbendem saw his shot deflect just past the post for a corner.
Half time came and both sides were guilty of being scared of losing.
The second half was only seconds old when Gil Carvalho in the area saw his shot come back off the post. Ramsgate seemed to come out with a little more purpose but Ben Bridle-Card in the Chatham goal did not have much to do.
In the 68th minute Chatham thought they had scored when the ball in the area saw Nzala flick it to Kedwell who poked it forward for Reece Butler and his shot saw Bexon make a superb save as he pushed the shot around the post.
Five minutes later Chatham did take the lead when Emmanuel Oloyede, who had just come on, scored when Jordi Robins on the right wing crossed low to the near post and Oloyede flicked in from 5 yards, you could say what an inspirational substitution by Kevin Hakes.
Four minutes later Ramsgate nearly equalised when Carvalho on the far post saw his header headed off the line by Butler and cleared.
In the 79th minute Evans ran into the area and his goal bound shot was deflected over the bar for a corner.
Six minutes later Chatham secured the points when a cross into the area found Evans on the back post and he squared the ball to Andy Drury who side footed in from 6 yards.
Ramsgate were now a beaten side even though there were 5 minutes of added on time, they did not cause any problems and now Chats only need two points from their last two games to win the league and promotion.
