Chatham Town 2-0 Potters Bar Town

Chatham Town kept up their winning run, with their victory over Potters Bar Town making it 11 victories on the trot, as they continue making life in this division the highest in their history look easy.

The game started quickly for Chatham as they came out with purpose and in the second minute a Jack Evans free kick 20 yards out went just wide.

Then three minutes later they scored when Jamie Yila on the edge of the area beat two defenders, got to the by-line, his low cross to the back post found the evergreen Danny Kedwell who from one yard out knocked it in.

In the 11th minute it nearly became two when Evans in the area saw his shot from an acute angle go across the area just going past the post. In the 13th minute Leigh Rose had Potters Bar’s first chance when his 20-yard snapshot went just past the post.

Chatham continued to create chances as in the 25th minute when an Evans corner to the back post found Kristian Campbell but his header went over the bar.

In the 36th minute another back post corner by Evans found Simon Cooper but again the header went over the bar. In the 43rd minute Chatham could and maybe should have doubled their lead when Yila’s back heel put Evans in on goal but from ten yards his shot was saved by Preston Edwards formally of Ebbsfleet.

In the last minute of the half Sam Chaney saw his 20-yard shot saved by Ben Bridle-Card.

The second half started with Potters Bar pushing forward and having the lion’s share of possession without causing Chatham any problems.

Then against the run of play Chatham doubled their lead in the 79th minute when substitutes Che Krabbendam and Ashley Nzala combined, the ball came out of defence to Krabbendam who turned, put Nzala in and he raced into the area cut inside, then from ten yards shot home.

Potters Bar nearly got a consolation goal in the 84th minute when a free kick into the area saw captain Rickie Hayles head just wide of the post.

In the second minute off added time Potters Bar went down to ten men when Prosper Keto clipped Krabbendam’s legs and being last man was sent off.

The final whistle went and Chatham Town are now up to Second place in the League.
