KSN are proud to support:

Chatham Town 1-1 Ashford United
Chatham Town 1-1 Ashford United

Both teams are in the draw for the next round of the cup in what was an entertaining match if a little tetchy at times, and Ashford played with ten men for 40 plus minutes.

The game started slowly with both teams passing the ball around, testing each other out, before in the 17th minute Ashford took the lead when a corner into the area saw what the referee deemed as a foul.

A penalty was given, up stepped Tom Fagg, he shot low to the left in which Henry Newcombe went the right way and parried he ball away but unfortunately straight to Fagg who slotted home.

Ashford were now in control with Chatham relying on bits and pieces, it took them until the 27th minute to have a meaningful shot when Jordi Robins shot just over the bar.

Another chance came in the 36TH minute when Jack Evans on the edge of the area saw his attempted chip go just past the post.

Ashford thought they were going in at halftime two up when in the 42nd minute Rhyle Ovenden on the edge of the area to the right saw his curling effort going into the corner of the net but Newcombe had other ideas and superbly tipped it around the post, what a save cried the crowd.

Ashford had been the better team, deserved the lead but they knew one-nil was a dodgy score line and so it proved.

The second half was only five minutes old when Ashford went down to ten men when Daniel Hull was sent off for a second booking which seemed a bit harsh at the time.

Then a minute later Chatham thought they had equalised when a Ryan Hayes free kick right under the crossbar forced Jordan Carey to take the ball over the line under pressure. At first the goal was given but the assistant flagged for a free kick to Ashford.

In the 61st minute Ashford nearly did get their second when Luke Leppard in the area turned quickly but saw his shot turned around the post by Newcombe.

Chatham were now getting into the game, in the 68th minute Luke Rooney from 20 yards out saw his chipped effort go past the post.

In the 74th minute they equalised when Ryan Hayes in the middle of the park spread the ball wide to Jon Pilbeam who went past Bradley Simms, crossed to the back post where Dan Bradshaw headed in for his fifth F.A.Cup goal of the season.

A minute later it Evans on the edge of the area saw his shot go just past the post, Chatham were enjoying a lot of possession.

Ashford as teams down to ten nearly stole the game when in the 84th minute Fagg on the edge of the area saw his toe poked effort come back of the post. Then in the 86th minute Chatham nearly stole it when Robins put Evans in the area and from an acute angle saw his shot tipped over the bar.

The final whistle went and both teams go again at Homelands on Tuesday night.
