Rochdale are currently in a rich vein of form. They have won their last three games, home wins over local rivals, Fleetwood and Bolton, sandwiching a win in South London.
A 90th minute penalty saw Dale take all three points at Millwall.
By contrast, the Addicks have gone six games since they last won, albeit they have drawn five of those games.
Dale manager, Keith Hill, was high on Charlton’s wanted list in the summer, and he will be keen to show home fans what they missed out on.
The match is a Football For A Fiver promotion, so The Valley could see its biggest gate of the season.
Russell Slade has injury problems, but will be desperate to make up for Tuesday’s dire performance.
Patrick Bauer has a slight hip problem and Slade may decide not to risk him, but Jason Pearce could return.
Ricky Holmes is a major doubt. He has had back and foot injuries recently, and did not move freely after being clattered on Tuesday.
Ademola Lookman did not look at his best against Oldham, but could start if Holmes is sidelined.
Slade’s side could look like this:
Rudd; Solly, Konsa, Pearce, Fox; Foley, Crofts, Ulvestad, Jackson; Novak, Magennis.
Subs: Phillips, Johnson, Chicksen, Botaka, Botaka, Lookman, Ajose.
This is a game that the Addicks will expect to win, but it would be no surprise if it ends in stalemate.
