It has been confirmed that former Crystal Palace midfield powerhouse, Joe Ledley, is training with the squad at Sparrows Lane.
The 32-year-old is a Welsh international but has been without a club since leaving Wigan in the summer.
If he impresses enough to be offered a deal, Ledley would offer presence and physicality to Charlton’s midfield.
The Addicks have to make the long trek to Middlesbrough to face Jonathan Woodgate’s side on Saturday. Woodgate and Bowyer are old friends from their playing days at Leeds, but both will be desperate to take the three points on offer.
Bowyer will welcome back Conor Gallagher after suspension, but Tom Lockyer will miss out after picking up a fifth booking against Sheffield Wednesday last week.
Chuks Aneke and Lyle Taylor resumed full training on Thursday, and if they had no adverse reaction, Bowyer has said they they will get a few minutes from the bench at the Riverside.
Whether making a 600 mile round trip to play 15 or 20 minutes is more beneficial than rest and a training session at Sparrows Lane is debatable.
The Addicks could line-up like this:
Phillips; Solly, Oshilaja, Pearce, Purrington; Pratley, Morgan, Gallagher, Oztumer; Leko, Bonne.
Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Matthews, Sarr, Doughty, Aneke, Davison,Taylor.
The game is an excellent opportunity for the Addicks to end their winless run.
